How our skills help you
Physiotherapy
Movement Perfected takes a personalized and holistic approach to physiotherapy, combining manual therapy and movement therapy to address the individual needs of each patient. During the assessment, the experienced team identifies any areas of tightness, weakness, imbalances, or movement dysfunctions that may be contributing to the patient’s symptoms or limitations. The physiotherapist may use manual therapy techniques such as joint mobilizations, soft tissue work, or manipulations to release tight areas, improve joint mobility, and alleviate pain.
Movement therapy involves exercises and activities tailored to the patient’s specific condition and goals, using a variety of equipment such as resistance bands, stability balls, functional training tools, Pilates equipment, and weights. The focus is on strengthening weak muscles, improving body balance, and enhancing overall movement patterns.
In addition to treatment, the physiotherapist educates the patient on proper movement mechanics, ergonomics, and strategies for injury prevention. They also provide guidance on exercises and lifestyle modifications to help the patient maintain their progress and prevent future issues. Pilates
At Movement Perfected, Pilates plays a crucial role in improving movement control, awareness of movement patterns, relaxation, and balance. The Pilates sessions offered by the team are customized to meet the unique needs and goals of each individual. During these sessions, participants are guided through a series of exercises that target specific muscle groups, while placing emphasis on proper alignment, breath control, and mindful movement. Depending on the session and individual requirements, the exercises may be performed using specialized equipment such as the reformer, cadillac, or mat.
The primary objectives of Pilates at Movement Perfected are as follows:
- Improving movement control: The focus is on enhancing control over individual movements, emphasizing precise and controlled motions rather than relying on momentum. This approach can lead to improved coordination, stability, and overall movement quality.
- Increasing awareness of movement patterns: Individuals are encouraged to develop a heightened sense of body awareness. By emphasizing alignment, muscle engagement, and movement patterns, participants can become more attuned to their bodies and make conscious adjustments to optimize movement efficiency.
- Promoting relaxation and stress reduction: Pilates incorporates principles of breath control and mindfulness, which can help individuals relax, reduce stress, and enhance overall well-being. The emphasis on slow, controlled movements and mindful breathing contributes to a sense of calm and relaxation.
- Enhancing balance: Pilates sessions often include exercises that challenge the body’s balance and stability. This can improve proprioception (the body’s sense of position) and overall balance, making it particularly beneficial for individuals in the process of recovering from injuries.
The instructors at Movement Perfected are highly experienced, with many possessing additional certifications or training in fields such as physiotherapy or sports science. This enables them to provide a comprehensive and well-rounded approach to Pilates, incorporating principles from various disciplines to optimize the benefits for participants.
